John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Are you angry with God? Answer honestly. Has something happened in your past that has caused a rift in your relationship with him, where you are constantly wondering, God, why didn’t you protect me? Why have you abandoned me? It may feel at times as if He’s abandoned you in your time of trouble, but in actuality it isn’t He who’s abandoned you, it’s you who’s abandoned Him.

God already sent his son 2000 years ago to die for us and take all our suffering and hurt upon himself. That doesn’t mean we won’t experience pain, though. Jesus tells us in John 16:33, “…In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Jesus overcame the world and he is always there waiting for you, even when you’re angry with him. Next time you begin to wonder where God has gone and start to get angry, check your heart. It could be that in your anger you’ve inadvertently built a wall; so knock that wall down and run full sprint towards the one who has overcome it all.

QUESTION 1. Do you feel like there is a rift in your relationship with God? What may have caused it?
QUESTION 2. What are you doing now to try to keep yourself from building a wall between you and God? Are you spending time with Him daily? Talking with Him? Reading His Word?
CHALLENGE: Lay everything you’re holding on to, all the anger, pain, and distrust, at the wonderful cross where Jesus took it all.
