2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Have you ever had the opportunity to tell someone about the good news of Jesus Christ? Have you ever come across a moment in time where you had the chance to tell someone about who Jesus was and is, how he lived his life, how he died on the cross for our sin, and most importantly how he was raised back to life? As Christians it can be very scary to approach someone and share the gospel with them. Questions like, am I a good enough Christian to tell someone else about Jesus, what will they think of me if I begin to share, will they think I’m some sort of weirdo? Many fears begin to pop into our heads when we put Jesus and the needs of others before our own. However, it’s important to remember what the apostle Paul told Timothy, that is, there is no reason to be afraid. Once we place our faith in Christ, God gives Christians the Holy Spirit to live in us and guide our lives. And it’s important to note that the Holy Spirit is not a spirit of fear or timidity, but rather of power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). No matter what obstacles or fears come our way, know that we can overcome them with the help and strength of the Holy Spirit, and that’s a promise to cling to.

QUESTION 1. Have you ever taken the chance to tell another person about Christ and the good news of what he has done for us on the cross? If so, how did it go? Were you afraid?
QUESTION 2. Have you ever been too afraid to share the gospel of Christ with others? Do you have any friends that do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Have you shared the good news with them?
CHALLENGE: We challenge you to rely on the Holy Spirit and pick one friend that you know does not have a relationship with Jesus Christ to share the gospel with this week. Take time and pray everyday for this person and speak with all the love and humility of Jesus Christ!
