II Corinthians 5:20

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: be reconciled to God.

An ambassador is someone sent by their home country to act as a representative to a foreign country. Their job is to represent their country of origin well. We are Christ’s ambassadors; so in light of what you know an ambassador is, are you doing your job to the best of your ability?

For most of my time in college I told people I was a Christian, but my life did not match up with what I said. You probably know a lot of people like this, too, or maybe it’s you. We can say we are Christians all day long, but if our lives don’t match up then no one will ever believe us and no one will ever listen. We will be awful ambassadors.

Representing the Creator of the universe is a pretty tall order. Do you want people to equate what you do and say with what Jesus would do and say? If you aren’t representing Him well then how will people ever know Him?

Look at your life and ask yourself if you are being the best ambassador you can be. If not, then it is time to make some changes. If your words are crude and tearing others down, then close your mouth. Decide here and now that you will only speak life and truth. If your partying habits are making people wonder how you could possibly be a Christian, then stop partying. Whatever it is that is causing you to not be an effective ambassador, cut it out, and make a change. It is time to start representing Jesus well.

QUESTION 1. Do your actions match up with what you profess to believe?
QUESTION 2. If not, how can you change? Make a plan, then follow through.
