Genesis 12:1-2, 4

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you, “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing”…So Abram went….

I can’t even imagine what was going through Abram’s head when God told him to leave his people, his country, his land, and all he knew. What would you do if God told you to leave your house, all your friends, and move overseas? It would be ridiculously hard. But Abram didn’t even question God; all it says is, “so Abram went….”

He didn’t need God to lay out the blueprint for him and tell him exactly how his future would pan out. Abram went. He trusted God enough to know he would honor his promise to bless him, and you can bet God richly blessed him.

Do you have a faith as raw and real as Abram’s? Do you trust God when he asks you to leave your comfort zone? Chances are, if you aren’t getting out of your comfort zone, you aren’t growing. God uses those times when we step out and trust him to grow us and stretch us in incredible ways. This doesn’t mean you have to do something big like switch your job or career, or move across the world; it could be something small.

Look for ways in which God wants to grow you, then step out and trust him. It may be scary. After all, we aren’t God; we don’t know the future, but he does. And just as Abram’s faith grew exponentially when he trusted God, so too will yours.

QUESTION 1. If God called you to do something like he called Abram to do, would you be able to do it?
QUESTION 2. When was the last time you stepped out in faith to somewhere way beyond your comfort zone?
CHALLENGE: Trust and follow God wherever he leads, whether it is a big step or little one. There is no place safer than in God’s perfect will.
