Ezekiel 36:26-27

Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you will be careful to observe my ordinances.

Even as professing Christians, many of us have allowed our hearts to be tamed by the world. We are so obsessed with the American dream, with money, fame, business, and all the comforts the world has to offer. We get so complacent we couldn’t imagine stepping outside our bubble. It is so safe and easy where I am at; why would I?

But in reality, the Christianity that Jesus calls us to is wild, crazy, untamed, and uncomfortable. So many of us, even after we begin a relationship with God, still live our old lives as if God should conform to us, not the other way around. He is calling us to a life untamed, a life that isn’t handcuffed to the American dream. It is a life overflowing with love, joy, and grace.

Ask yourself, are you living the comfortable, easy life or are you living a life full of Jesus? It is okay if you have been living comfortably, but now is the time to break it off. Jump out of your comfort zone. Start a Bible study at your school, attend the church you’ve wanted to try, ask to be a youth leader, go on a mission trip. These are uncomfortable pursuits, but they are pursuits that will unshackle your heart from this world. We all get one life. Only one. As William Wallace says in Braveheart, “Every man dies, but not every man truly lives.” Make it count; live for Jesus.

QUESTION 1. What are you pursuing? Do you feel tamed?
QUESTION 2. What is stopping you from living a wild and crazy life with Jesus?
CHALLENGE: Live a life untamed. Step out of your comfort zone and be Jesus to the world.
