John 17:21

“That they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you sent me.”

There are a lot of us who aren’t very good at letting people into our lives. Sure, we may have tons of friends and hang out a lot, but very few to none know us deeply. You may think that this isn’t an issue and that you can deal with your problems on your own, but that is something that can take you down some dark and dangerous roads.

The Bible says that we were made to live in unity with others and are supposed to lift each other up (Hebrews 10:24). It also tells us in Ecclesiastes 4:10, “Woe to the one who falls and has no one to pick him up.” Do you want to be a person who, when you fail or fall, has no one there to help you back up?

If you’re someone who shuts people out and thinks you can do it all on your own, you must stop. There is so much more strength to be had when you allow someone else to love and help you. Also, take the time and energy to genuinely love someone. This isn’t a one way road. When you begin to lift someone else up, you too will be lifted up. It’s a beautiful exchange.

QUESTION 1. Do you shut others out? Is it hard for you to accept love?
QUESTION 2. Do you love others well? How are you using your gifts and talents to display genuine love to someone?
CHALLENGE: Ask God to help break down your wall and then begin to share your life with others. Put all your hopes, dreams, pain, suffering, and struggles out there and allow others to lift you up and point you back to Jesus.
