Ephesians 2:20-21

Having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord.

When constructing a house the builders have to make sure the foundation is strong or the entire house will collapse into a pile of rubble when the first storm arrives. The foundation is the most important factor of a house, and the same is true in our own lives.

Most of us build on the foundation of money, power, or fame. For a time these may appear solid, but at the first sign of trouble these weak foundations will collapse. There is only one true and perfect foundation on which we should be building our lives and it’s Jesus Christ.

But how do we make sure we’re building our lives on Jesus? It’s simple: spend time with him. This is easier said than done for most of us because we allow our lives to become so busy we all but forget our Maker. But if you want a firm foundation you have to make time.

Read your Bible daily. Worship Him at the top of your lungs while driving to school or work. Talk with Him throughout your day; you don’t need to have some epic thirty minute prayer session in order to talk with God. A good relationship with a friend can’t be built that way, so how could it with God? I promise if you implement these suggestions into your life you will find your foundation is soon rock solid.
