HOLY SPIRIT

MEGAN JASSO

2 Corinthians 3:16-17

But whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

It is so easy to get discouraged when sharing the love of Christ with someone. Maybe you’ve been witnessing to someone for years now and they are still not taking any steps towards God. In fact, they may have downright rejected God; but then suddenly something clicks, the veil falls away and they turn to God. There is no explanation except that the Holy Spirit got hold of them and they are experiencing true freedom.

We don’t know God’s timing and we can’t see behind the scenes, but know that the Holy Spirit is always at work in people’s lives. We can’t judge others or know where they are in their spiritual journey by looking at them. We can’t say, “Man, that guy will never accept Christ. He’s just too far gone.” Keep in mind that serial killer Ted Bundy found Jesus while in prison. Before he was executed, God got hold of him and he spent his last few months telling others about Jesus and his grace and forgiveness. An ex-serial killer brought many inmates to Christ. You are never too far gone. Keep the faith, keep telling others about Jesus, and know that the Holy Spirit is always at work.

QUESTION 1. Have you gotten discouraged while witnessing to someone? Have you ever even tried to witness to someone?
QUESTION 2. If not, why haven’t you? Are you fearful that they’ll reject the gospel and you?
CHALLENGE: Have faith during those moments when you might doubt the Spirit, because you never know when he will move.
