Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

What are the things that you hope for the most in life? For many, it is getting into the right college, finding a great job, or finding the right person to share life with. It could really be anything at all. The problem is that once you actually attain any of these things that you hoped for, the things you thought would bring fulfillment, you just end up questioning, “Is this all there is?” It’s not that any of these things you placed your hope in were necessarily bad, but rather that without Jesus as your main hope, all these things you placed your hope in actually just leave you, well, hopeless. Jesus tells us to seek God’s Kingdom and his righteousness (Matt. 6:33). When you seek God and place your hope in him first, that’s when you will realize that all these other things you placed your hope in will fade away. If they happen, it’s just extra frosting on an already delicious desert!

QUESTION 1. What are some things that you have placed your hope in only to be let down?
QUESTION 2. In what areas in your life has your main hope, Jesus, been replaced by other people, places or things?
CHALLENGE: We challenge you to make Jesus your 1st and primary hope and enjoy all the extra frosting that comes with it.
