Jeremiah 29:11

“…For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future…”

When someone is going through a rough time, the Christian clichés tell him or her, “God has this. It’ll all be okay. I’ll pray for you…etc.” But the truth is life can suck sometimes. It just does. When a family member gets sick and passes away, that sucks. When an accident happens, that sucks. This may be hard to hear, but in this fallen world bad things are going to happen to you. Don’t be deceived, though, God never causes those bad things to happen. Although, it can be impossible for us to know why He rescues us sometimes, and not in other times.

Sometimes the hardest thing can turn into the best thing. The most trying time can turn into the most beautiful time. It’s so hard to see the good in the moment, but in retrospect you can always see where God worked it out for good for those that trust in Him. That’s something you should never forget; God has your back and has wonderful plans for your life. You may not know why something bad happens until after the fact. We may not even know or understand until we get to heaven, but what we do know is God has a plan and we just need to trust him in the good and bad times.

QUESTION 1. When was the last time you went through something that was really hard?
QUESTION 2. Looking back, can you see where God used it for good and for his glory?
CHALLENGE: Don’t doubt God’s wonderful plan for your life. In the hard times, lean into God harder.
