OBEDIENCE

CLIFF WOODWARD

Deuteronomy 5:33
Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

We all have had those moments when we know that God is nudging us to do something or to go somewhere, though for whatever reason we decide that our way is better and God doesn’t know what he’s doing. Maybe He is telling you to give up your summer of beach trips, jet skis and late night hang outs with your friends to go overseas on a mission trip. You know you’re supposed to go, but if you do, not only will you miss out on your lazy, hazy summer but your boyfriend or girlfriend would break up with you. So you stay, and miss out on the adventure of a lifetime. We need to stop listening to our own selfish desires and start listening to God who most definitely has our best interest in mind.

When you make the decision to be obedient to God in every area of your life, you’ll find that God starts to trust you with more and you’ll be more effective in advancing his kingdom. It won’t always be the easy or obvious choice. It will probably be out of your comfort zone, and maybe a little scary, but when you follow God’s calling it will definitely be the wisest choice. There is no place safer or more full of life and adventure than in God’s perfect will. Be obedient and watch how God will use you.

QUESTION 1. What is it that you know God is asking you to do?
QUESTION 2. Are you afraid to be obedient because you’re worried what God might ask of you? Pray and give these worries over to God. He’ll take them from you.
CHALLENGE: Give your obedience to God, then jump in with all that you have. Don’t give up and don’t give in; God has you.
