Esther 4:14

“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?”

After graduating college I went on a year-long mission trip around the world and had the grandest of adventures and met the most beautiful people. I returned home thinking I was going to begin the next big adventure, but God’s adventure in store for me had a different definition. After the exotic and “glamorous” year abroad, everything back home felt so dull. I was so upset about being home that I missed almost every opportunity God had for me in the seemingly small moments.

Have you experienced this? Maybe you went on a mission trip and had the time of your life only to return back to the States and miss the reason God had you there, because you were preoccupied with wanting to be back doing the big missionary work. I was home for a year and I knew God wanted me to spend that time loving my friends and family, but I didn’t because I thought I should be doing something bigger. But here’s the thing: God has placed you in a specific place at a specific time so you can proclaim his glory. And yes, this means even in the moments that we deem “small.”

God will use you overseas, God will use you state-side, God will use you in your home; we only need to be ready and willing. He has extended the invitation wherever you are; will you accept it? Don’t neglect serving God here and now because you think you should be doing something bigger. Just like Esther, we must always be ready “for such a time as this.”

QUESTION 1. What do you think God has for you to do right now and right where you are?
QUESTION 2. What are some ways you can proclaim God’s glory in your day? After all, that is why we are here.
CHALLENGE: Be a part of what God is doing today. He has placed you in this specific time and place for a reason; don’t miss it.
