Philippians 4:6-7

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

If you’ve grown up in the church then you’ve probably been told at some point to take all your prayer requests, big or small, to God. I know, for me, I only half believed that. Does God really hear all my requests? This prayer is too big or that prayer isn’t big enough or he may not want to hear this one. For so long I would keep certain prayers to myself because I thought that God wouldn’t hear such small requests or wouldn’t care. But all of that would build up inside me until I was ready to burst with anxiety.

God hears every one of our prayers and he loves when we talk to him. The Bible says that not only is God asking for all our requests but also that, when we pray, God’s peace will be given to us. He may not grant your request – he isn’t a genie performing at your whim – but he still promises peace which surpasses comprehension. Talk to God. Give him everything and you’ll find your anxiety fade away, replaced by God’s peace.

QUESTION 1. Have you ever asked God for something and then doubted he could actually make it happen?
QUESTION 2. What do you have to lose by taking everything to God? Do you think if you talk too much He’ll get annoyed and stop listening?
CHALLENGE: Take all your fear, anxieties, and worries and give them to God. Give him all your requests and the all-encompassing peace of God will guard your heart and mind.
