Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

I have so many incredibly talented friends! Friends that I truly believe could accomplish whatever they put their minds to. I’m friends with people who are going to be celebrities, famous musicians, authors, public speakers, and world changers. Maybe you have some of those people in your life too. (I just hope that they remember who I am when they are changing the world for the better.)

When I read the verse above in Psalms, it reminds me of those friendships. However, this is a personal invitation from the God of the Universe to know him, even in his fame and power. He is saying that He is going to be acknowledged and known all across the world. Yet He doesn’t see us as “little people” in light of that fame. In fact, He rejoices in knowing each of us intimately.

We don’t have to earn His favor or recognition; all we have to do is be still. In that stillness, and closeness, we will find that we start to know God better. The more we get to know Him, the more we will want to talk about Him to others. Therefore, He will become more and more known throughout the nations. The best part about this is that He desires not just to grow in fame, but He desires to grow in relationship as well. To God, it is not about being known all around the world, it is all about growing in deep relationships with everyone because of His love for each of us. Unlike those friends who may one day get too famous to keep in touch with us, God is able to love everyone on this planet deeply without forgetting about us “little people.”

However, sometimes we claim to be too busy for Him, like we are the famous ones and He is the “little person.” As the knowledge of His love spreads, we do not have to worry about Him loving us any less. He will be acknowledged in all the world; how will you help accomplish this?

QUESTION 1. How are you investing in your relationship with God today?
QUESTION 2. How can you spread His love to those who don’t know Him today?
