2 Corinthians 12:9-10

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

Life is made up of good days, bad days and mediocre days. Of course, it’s easy to have a good attitude when the good days come and even when the boring, middle of the road days happen. But it’s not so easy when a day turns unexpectedly sour. We hate being weak, or depressed, or faced with difficulties.

But take a look at Paul. He was preaching the gospel to everyone and doing God’s will everywhere he went. You would think that God would take extra good care of him and not allow anything bad to happen to him, but that’s not how things went. Paul encountered hardships like you wouldn’t believe, but he embraced them with gratitude knowing that when he was at his weakest God was making him strong and was always with him.

That is a hard place to be because it requires trust and reliance on God in your worst moments. But how great would it be if even when you were stressed, distressed, persecuted, insulted, or faced with difficulty you could be content? It’s totally attainable. When you face your darkest moment, lean into God and lean in hard, and by God’s grace he will guide and strengthen you and you will find yourself breathing in fresh rest like you haven’t experienced before.

QUESTION 1. Have you ever faced a difficulty and found yourself unaffected by it? Were you still content with life and sure that you would come through on the other side?
QUESTION 2. How did you come to that realization? Were you seeking God and leaning on him?
CHALLENGE: Whatever you are facing, know that you aren’t alone. When we are weak we are empowered by Christ and we become conquerors through him.
