Psalm 40:5

“Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.”

I don’t know about you, but I am really good at being dramatic. I can easily take a situation and overthink it until I make it something that it’s not. It is so easy to blow things out of proportion when life gets hard or you don’t understand the “why” behind a situation. I cling to the opinions of others as though they are my identity. I face an obstacle and I coward away because I am afraid I might fail. I get upset over the smallest things. I experience pain or heartache and suddenly feel as though I am the only one who has ever felt this hurt. I need to be grounded far too often. I need a reality check. Maybe I’m alone in that, or maybe you have done the same thing once or twice.

As easy as it is for me to blow things out of proportion in my everyday life, I find comfort in knowing there is one thing I can never make bigger than it is – the plans and wonders of God. His ways are so far beyond the limits of my imagination that I cannot possibly over-exaggerate who He is…even on my most dramatic days! When I am stuck in my own head and can only see things from my perspective, He’s holding the entire universe in His hands. You think that’s crazy?! Think about this…He’s not only holding the entire world in His hand, but He has a unique plan for every person on it! Take that one step further to acknowledge the fact that He not only has a plan, but He wants a personal relationship with each of us! The more you think about it, the more amazing it is!

There is literally no way we could possibly name all the things He has done for us! His deeds are too far beyond our own comprehension – they are both too grand and too detailed for us to be able to notice them all. Even when we cannot understand it all, He still acts and moves on our behalf. That is just who He is! So if you are at all like me and you start to overthink the challenges you are facing, take a step back and think of all the ways God could be at work in and through your life!
