Isaiah 53:5

“But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.”

I love hearing kids talk about what they want to be when they grow up! Their answers are always so bold and courageous – as though absolutely nothing is impossible! However, as kids grow, they start to lose that spark that once had them asking for the impossible.

The same can be true with what we ask God for. He is the God of the impossible, yet so often it can be difficult for us to come to Him with bold prayers because they seem either too crazy or too small. He wants to hear them all. He wants to step in for us in ways no one else can. There is nothing wrong with coming to Him with bold requests – there is nothing too big for Him to handle. He already cleared the debt of sin that had destined all of humanity to eternal death. That’s a pretty impossible task that He has already accomplished! He can certainly handle any other bold requests we may have.

However, it is always important to remember that God is not a genie that grants our craziest wishes. He knows the absolute best outcome of every situation and the best answer to any prayer. When we align our hearts to Him and learn more about His character and desires, our prayers become bolder because they are more in line with His plans for His people – and He has bold and crazy plans for this world!

QUESTION 1. What stops you from praying bold prayers and asking God for the impossible?
QUESTION 2. If you were to break past those things, what impossible things would you ask God for in the name of Jesus?
CHALLENGE: Spend some time getting to know the heart of God and examine how your bold requests line up with his character. Then come to Him with your bold and impossible requests with faith that He can do it!
