Psalm 119:37
Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways.

Our eyes are beautiful gifts from God. They allow us to see God’s imagination come to life through his creation. Our eyes allow us to see where we are going. They allow us to catch or hit a baseball, drive a car or simply watch a movie. Our eyes are at work from the moment we wake up to the moment we close them to go to sleep. They take in amazing amounts of information about the world around us: shapes, colors, movements, and more. Then they send the information to our brain for processing so the brain knows what’s going on outside our body. The eye’s pretty amazing, but as amazing as it is, while our eyes can see the all the good, they can also see the bad. There are many worthless images that our eyes can pick up and send as messages to our brains. The brain then stores this information and tries to decipher it, and much of this information can be violent, pornographic, and dishonoring to God and others. God doesn’t want you to look at worthless images that can hurt you or others, and draw you away from the true freedom and love of Jesus Christ.

QUESTION 1. Are there any images that you are allowing yourself to view that are not God honoring? (e.g. pornography, violence, foul language etc.)
QUESTION 2. Have you asked forgiveness for viewing those things which are not God honoring? What are some steps that you could take to stop viewing those images?
CHALLENGE: We challenge you to take responsibility for the things that you view. Don’t let your eyes look upon worthless things; and receive the freedom and new life that comes from keeping your sights on Jesus.
