1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you face temptation, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.

There was a study conducted last year that found out 77% of Christian men look at pornography at least monthly and about 36% admit to being addicted. Unfortunately, I believe this number to be even higher. Lust is an issue permeating every area of our lives. It is in songs, movies, TV, books, billboards, ads; it is almost everywhere we look. The temptation for men, and women, is running rampart over our lives.

It’s easy to get discouraged and give in because there’s no way we can resist it all in today’s world. And it is true, we can’t; but through the strength of the Holy Spirit, we can. God knew we would face intense temptation; even Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days. But God always provides a way of escape.

Next time you’re tempted to give into lust, run. God tells us to flee from temptation (II Timothy 2:22); so get out of there. Go somewhere with other people, ask a trusted friend to talk with you, quote scripture, talk with God, go for a walk. The list of strategies you can implement to help resist temptation could go on and on. Find what works for you; then do it. But above all, be in constant communication with Jesus. Turn your eyes to Him and you’ll find the desires of this world begin to fade.

QUESTION 1. Do lust and sex have a chokehold on you?
QUESTION 2. What strategies do you have in place to resist these temptations?
CHALLENGE: Figure out ways in which you can best resist temptation, and then implement them. Ask God for his strength and turn your eyes to him.
