Exodus 14:14

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

It’s so hard to trust someone in a moment of fear. Like when I was a kid and my dad would stand in the pool and tell me to jump into his arms from my safe zone on the side. I simply had to trust that he would be there like he said he would; but in my 3-year-old mind I was convinced I would drown.

Our relationship with God is a lot like this. He tells us to trust Him but we always say, “Well what about this? I can’t do that!” And God is like, “Shh…Just trust me.” It’s interesting that in the verse above God tells us he will fight for us and all we have to do is be still. Be still? That seems so simple. But are we still? No. We fight and question and fight some more, but all along God is just waiting for us to truly be still and trust him. Next time you face a situation where God is calling you to trust in him, what will you do? Be silent. Be still. Jump into His arms.

QUESTION 1. When was there a time in your life that someone told you to trust them? What happened? Was it a good or bad outcome?
QUESTION 2. Is there something God is calling you right now to trust him in? What are you scared of?
CHALLENGE: It’s simple; be still and trust that God will fight for you.
