Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Right now, all over the world, Christians are persecuted for their beliefs. Not only are they shunned by their families but beaten and killed too. We here in the United States pat ourselves on the back when someone makes fun of us for believing in God, saying, “Hey look at that; I just endured persecution!” Our brothers and sisters around the world are standing firm in their faith and refusing to back down when faced with the choice of denouncing God or death.

Ask yourself this honestly; if faced with physical persecution would you still hold on to the promise of God that he will be there for you? Jesus tells his disciples and us numerous times that in this world we will face persecution and trouble but to also take heart because, no matter what happens, Jesus has overcome the world. No matter how bad things get here we must always remember that when Jesus died on the cross he won the war. Yes, we face battles every day, but the war itself has already been won and someday soon Jesus will come and claim his victory once and for all. But until that day comes, stand firm when the battles come and know God is always there and always victorious.

QUESTION 1. Have you ever been persecuted for believing in Jesus?
QUESTION 2. If faced with physical persecution or death, how would you respond? Be honest.
CHALLENGE: No matter the adversity, no matter the trouble, put your confidence in God and he will see you through. He has already won.
