TRUST

TAYLOR HOTTER

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

God asks us to do hard things sometimes. I was in a relationship for two years with a girl who wasn’t a Christian, and soon we started to talk about marriage. I loved her and she loved me, but the whole time I knew that God was saying, “Stop. Don’t do this. I have something better for you.” After much reluctance and pleading with God I broke it off, and immediately afterward he called me on a yearlong mission trip around the world. Had I not listened to God and done the hard thing I never would’ve seen the clear path in front of me that was full of uncertainty and adventure with him.

We have all faced hard decisions and moments like that. To put our trust in God and take a step is scary, but not when we know that God is stepping with us. I am so thankful that I put myself aside in that decision and listened to God’s direction, because he has blessed and provided like I never could’ve imagined. He is your rock in times of uncertainty and He is right there with you with every tough choice you make or winding path He calls you to walk down. Once you trust Him and take that step He will make your path straight. This isn’t to say that God’s path won’t be difficult, it probably will be, but there is so much life, adventure, comfort and peace when you take God’s way.

QUESTION 1. What was a recent hard decision you had to make? Did you seek God in that decision?
QUESTION 2. God’s way is usually uncertain and possibly scary, but do you truly trust that he will guide you if you take his path?
CHALLENGE: When faced with a rocky path or a tough decision put your trust in God and he will guide you.
